melinda grant case study 10.3

My opinion on this situation is that since melinda is a first year teacher, she should take advantage of this predicament. Her friend barbara has her own way of doing things and that all's about the testing. You only get to be a first year teacher once and melinda can take advantege of this by trying out anythings she feels like doing. If she does something wrong she can always use the excuse, "sorry i'm new at this". If she gets fired she can find a job anywhere, since she is a first year teacher she can start at a low paying rate so anyone would hire her.

I definitely feel Melinda has the potential to be a truly great teacher. I think her enthusiasm and intellect will aid her in finding clever and innovative ways to teach the students not only the information they need to do well on the standardized tests but also how to be the “creative thinkers” she had hoped to make them.

i defintily think she should go with her heart. i think she has a really awesome teaching style and that she will do well. she might want to consider something like a pratice test but thats up to her. if she can pull it off, great for her. if not, its like you said she is a first year teacher and can most likely get away with it. if it does not work though, i would be scared to push it two years in a row. that makes a large gap for her students from all across the grade level
